It’s That Time Again: Our 2016 TEAR Cancer Fundraiser
At Oakland Veterinary Referral Services, helping pets in need is our passion; which is why October is such an exciting month for us! After much planning and many preparations, we are thrilled to announce the arrival of our annual TEAR Cancer Evening & Auction fundraising event, October 21, 2016 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.
Our TEAR fundraiser will include a scrumptious buffet dinner, a live and silent auction, and a variety of raffles, including the Lucky Charms raffle and the Bugaboo Whitt Memorial raffle. Tickets are priced at $100 each, or you may purchase a table of 10, along with a champagne toast and introduction, for $950.
All About the TEAR Foundation
At OVRS, we feel a deep connection to our community, so we started The Emergency Animal Relief (TEAR) Foundation, a community supported financial assistance program for the pets and pet owners of Southeastern Michigan.
TEAR helps sick and injured animals by:
- Funding the emergency medical care for animals brought to us by “Good Samaritans”
- Providing financial assistance to help supplement the cost of care for qualified clients
- Sponsoring clinical research related to the advancement of veterinary medicine
- Funding programs that enhance community education of veterinary medicine
Unfortunately, pets who require and receive treatment for cancer don’t meet TEAR’s funding criteria…but, that’s where the TEAR Cancer Fund comes in! Thanks to generous donations, qualified clients can receive grants to help supplement the cost of cancer treatment for their pets, or receive new cancer treatments or equipment to better care for a pet with cancer.
How You Can Contribute to the TEAR Fundraiser
Attending a TEAR fundraiser is a wonderful and fun way to help animals in need in our community. In addition to the cancer event, TEAR Foundation hosts several fundraisers throughout the year, including the Bugaboo Whitt Memorial Bowling Fundraiser and the Annual Companion Animal Classic Golf Event.
In addition to attending a fundraising event, you can also contribute to the TEAR Foundation through an honorary or memorial donation, or by purchasing a tile on our commemorative “Our Family” wall in the OVRS lobby. By purchasing a tile, you will be paying a permanent tribute to a beloved pet or family member, while serving needy animals in our community.
