Cats love treats almost as much as we love cats. You might want to consider making your own if you don’t want to feed your kitty store-bought treats filled with questionable ingredients. Try out these recipes for healthy homemade cat treats to treat your kitty in a nutritious and delicious way:

Hairball Control Treats

What’s better than homemade cat treats? Ones we know your kitty will love? How about treats that will help control hairballs? Thanks to the added fiber and oil in these easy-to-make treats from The Upside, the hair your cat swallows can move more easily through the digestive tract.

All you need to make these is:

  • 1 cup brown rice flour
  • ⅓ cup canned pumpkin (make sure there’s no added sugar or seasoning)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp. ground flax seed
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. water

Before mixing, preheat your oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine all the ingredients into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough sit for five minutes. Once it’s had time to rise, knead the dough a few times, then roll it onto your baking sheet to a thickness of about ¼ inch. Cut dough into small pieces and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven, break pieces apart, then return to the oven for 10-15 more minutes.

Tuna Treats

If your cat loves a fishy flavor occasionally, these tuna treats from Serendipity and Spice should be your next baking project. All you need is:

  • 5 oz tuna
  • ½ cup of white cornmeal
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup of water

Simply mix your ingredients together into a long ball. Preheat your oven to 350 and take small pieces off your dough ball to make smaller balls, then flatten with your thumb. Bake for 5 minutes, flip all treats to the other side, and bake for 5 more minutes.

Carrot and Catnip Treats

Make treat time a little more fun for everyone involved by giving your kitty these carrot and catnip treats from Epicuricloud. All you need is:

  • 2 tbsp. Oil
  • 1 ¼ cups flour
  • 1 tbsp. dried catnip
  • ¾ cup shredded carrot
  • 1 large egg
  • Cold water

Preheat your oven to 375 and mix the oil and 1 cup of flour in a bowl. Add the catnip and the carrots, then mix in the egg and some water. Separate dough into small pieces and arrange on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Use the additional flour to keep the treats from sticking to the paper. Bake for 12 minutes.

Salmon Treats

These tasty treats from Cookie Rookie have only 3 ingredients, which are:

  • 10 ounces of canned salmon (do not drain)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

Preheat your oven to 350. Put the salmon in the food processor to make it as finely chopped as possible. Use a stand mixer to add all your ingredients until you’ve created a dough. Roll out your dough and cut it into your desired shapes. Bake on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper for about 20 minutes.

With these recipes, you can quickly give your kitty healthy homemade cat treats that are tasty and good for your cat.
