Raising Funds and Having Fun: The Bugaboo Whitt Memorials
Looking to have a little fun, maybe win a few fabulous prizes and help save the lives of pets in crisis? Then look no further. The Third Annual Bugaboo Whitt Memorial Bowling Fundraiser and Bugaboo Whitt Memorial Raffle are upon us! And with the proceeds of both events going to benefit TEAR Foundation, there’s really no way to lose.
What is TEAR?
Every year, hundreds, if not thousands, of families have to make the choice between providing life-saving emergency treatment for their beloved pet or saying goodbye before they’re ready. More often than not, the balance of that decision hinges on the financial considerations of the treatment needed and the realities of the family’s pocketbook.
Luckily, the pets and pet owners of Southeastern Michigan have a resource to assist them when tragedy strikes. TEAR (The Emergency Animal Relief) Foundation is a community-supported assistance program founded by the veterinarians of OVRS to help pets and their families when they need it the most.
TEAR’s main objectives are:
- To provide charitable funding for emergency medical care for sick and injured animals brought in by “Good Samaritans”
- To provide support to qualified clients in need of financial assistance by providing emergency grants to help supplement the cost of care
- To sponsor clinic research for the advancement of veterinary medicine
- To enhance community education of veterinary medicine

Thankfully, with The Third Annual Bugaboo Whitt Memorial Bowling Fundraiser and Bugaboo Whitt Memorial Raffle, supporting TEAR has never been easier—or more fun! These two events are terrific ways to contribute to TEAR and help the pets of Southeast Michigan while having a little fun of your own.
The Third Annual Bugaboo Whitt Memorial Bowling Fundraiser
Saturday, May 18, The Third Annual Bugaboo Whitt Memorial Bowling Fundraiser will kick off at 7 p.m. at Bowl One in Troy. $25 will get you three games of bowling, shoe rental, and pizza and pop. This event is a terrific opportunity to bring out the whole family in support of a great cause.
In addition the Lebowski-style fun, a raffle will be running throughout the night featuring some amazing prizes, including an Android tablet, a Nook, an iPod, a Valentine Vodka gift basket, a Hypnotic gift basket and more. Bugaboo Whitt Memorial Raffle
The Bugaboo Whitt Memorial Raffle is under way and boasting some great prizes, yet again. The “Best of Detroit” prize basket is brimming with items donated by either Diane Whitt herself or by The Detroit Shoppe, located at Somerset Mall North. Raffle tickets are $10 and the drawing will be held October 18, 2013, meaning you have plenty of time to get your tickets and persuade your friends to do the same.

Who is Bugaboo?
Bugaboo Whitt was the sweet pup of Diane Whitt. Bugaboo passed away in 2011 after a long and courageous battle with canine lymphoma. Originally diagnosed in 2007, Bugaboo was given just 6 to 12 months to live, but made it an astonishing 39 months thanks, in large part, to the funding grant her human received from TEAR to help pay for her treatments.
In thanks, Diane Whitt has set up the Bugaboo Whitt Memorial in an effort to raise funds and give back to TEAR so that the foundation may continue supporting pets and people in similar circumstances.
